A=440 was a Lite/high-tech AOR band based in Los Angeles, CA. They released one studio album on the Casablanca label in 1986.
The band is perhaps most famous for lead vocalist Tommy La Verdi, who would later form 21 Guns together with former Thin Lizzy guitarist Scott Gorham. Another well-known musician in the band was Matt Bissonette (brother of drummer Gregg Bissonette) who has recorded and played with countless bands and artists including Joe Satriani, Steve Lukather and Rick Springfield.
Other members in the group were Rich Ruttenberg (keyboards), Tom Walsh (drums) and guitarist/producer/main songwriter Nick Brown. (previously with Silver Condor)
A=440 was a great band with a sound somewhere between Mr. Mister, Life By Night and Channel, highlighted by the superb lead vocals of Tommy La Verdi. The album featured radio-ready songs full of hi-tech keyboard arrangements, melodic guitar lines and catchy choruses, a sound perfectly exemplified in lead singles "Method To My Madness" and the excellent "Take Me To Heart".
A record that has yet to see the light of day on CD but the LP is readily available on the net.
